Some of the members of the AudioFxAustin team have deep roots in the Austin, and for that matter, Texas, custom car and truck show theme. We were part of the very first Texas HeatWave, and have been involved in some way or another at every single one since, we've competed in shows state wide and nation wide as well. Our roots go back to the 80's mini trucking scene as members of the one of the biggest clubs from that era, at one time Custom Miniz had members and/or friends of the club that could fill up 6th street here in Austin from Congress Ave all the way to I35, not to mention showing up at shows and bringing home club trophies all the time. Unfortunately the club disbanded eventually, some members quit the scene, some went on to other clubs and even wound up being featured in magazines and so on and so forth, some of us are still very active in the scene with shops or still competing or working the HeatWave events or even working our own events. Gone are the days we used to have, where weekends would consist of meeting at a fellow member's house to install a part or lower someone's car or build some door panels or re-do a stereo or...well... you get the idea. Here at AudioFxAustin we bring that spirit to our shop every day
So in honor of that spirit the members of several clubs are having a get-together!! On Saturday September 19th Custom Miniz along with several other prominent "old school" mini trucker and custom car clubs are going to meet at Austin's Emma Long (aka City) Park. TExas HeatWave used to host events at this park, the parties and madness that used to fuel the show scene back in the day that occurred during these events is legendary so we're returning to the place that helped start it all, it should be a blast, and we're really looking forward to it. For those of us who have HD TV and more importantly, Discovery Channel's "HD Theater" where practically every other show is about cars or something else just as cool, they had an episode of "The Chop Shop" on the other night which featured VIBE gear. In the episode, "Leepu" and "Barney" are building a british "boy racer" car, which is probably what we here in the US would call a "tuner" or if you hate Japanese sports cars, a "ricer" mobile. In any case, they filled the car with Vibe gear and the car they built was pretty crazy, as is the case with everything they do on that show.
I found a clip of it, if you watch some of the beginning or fast forward to 3:57 you can see the install they did. AudioFxAustin is proud to be one of the premier vendors of VIBE here in Texas, they make excellent products to fit any price range so stop on by or give us a call to check them out, we also carry other lines so whatever your speaker flavor is, we can help you!
Greetings all, Well the last few months have sailed by, during those months we had another successful HeatWave presence, lost a dear friend and long time HeatWave staff member (RIP Rinay, we'll miss you!) and had a few other challenges and surpises along the way, we're still going strong and still here to serve your needs no matter how large or small so call us or come by any time.
In other news, we've been building a car for this years SEMA show in Las Vegas, this annual event showcases the entire automotive aftermarket industry and features all the HUGE names out there as far as brands and even fellow builders, names like Foose and celebrities such as Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld, and a host of other gear heads are at this show every year and we'll be right alongside them this year showing off our Vibe/Metra/Tsunami car in all its glory. For more information on the show check out:
The car we're building will be showcasing the new smaller and lighter VIBE amps in the "Litebox" series, these amazing amplifiers are smaller than a sheet of notebook paper, yet deliver "big" sound, stop on by or check out the Vibe website for details, these amps are perfect for people who have limited space or who are tired of lugging around heavy stereo equipment in their car just to get good sound etc.
Of course we can't sign off without a video clip of some sort, this time we feature some awesome skateboarding, some members of the AudioFxAustin team ride skateboards so it's only fitting right? We leave you with the 900, 10 years ago Tony Hawk pulled this trick, to this day people are still trying to catch up to it.
Sorry folks, We haven't posted much here in a while, life has been crazy at the shop with show season in full effect, doesn't look like it's slowing down ay time soon either, we just got back from a successful trip and first showing for one of our car's new sponsors (Vibe) in Tyler Texas at the Texas Summer Showdown, this weekend we're off to Houston for Texas Showdown and an appearance in the Cadence booth, then next month is the mecca of all Texas shows, Texas HeatWave here in Austin.
We also got news one of our cars is heaed to Vegas in November for Sema, and 2 of our cars may be going to CES next January too. Austin finally has a world class shop building world class cars for the "big shows", so why would you even consider taking your ride anywhere else when you can have people who have companies trusting them with demo vehicles working on your car? well? I'm just sayin'.... :) Why bother with any other shop? AudioFxAustin is competitively priced, many times less than our competition, we carry cutting edge brands, our labor and quality is show quality, even on the smallest of jobs, and we have a friendly laid back family atmosphere. You may come into our shop a customer, but you're pretty much guaranteed to leave a friend, who else can say that? I'll give you one guess....
So in other news, I found this a while back and thought it was cool.......
A staycation (or stay-cation, or stacation) is a description for a period of time in which an individual or family stays at home and relaxes at home or takes day trips from their home to area attractions. Staycations have achieved high popularity in current hard economic times in which unemployment levels and gas prices are high.
So maybe you won't be heading to the big car show sponsored by the Goodguys in Columbus, Ohio this year? Perhaps the NSRA's biggest event this summer in Louisville, Kentucky is no longer on the radar? NASCAR events are now NO-CAR events?
No reason to cancel the fun in your life, do what all good drivers do and adjust to the conditions of the track. There are plenty of fun and exciting car shows that will be taking place in your own neighborhood this summer. Local tracks always offer thrills. Get out there and continue to live your love of automobile, bikes and trucks. Even if the economy is down, it doesn't mean that your attitude has to be heading in the same direction. Look up and look ahead, live in the now and enjoy the good times that are easily in reach.
And if you have the chance to take someone with you that you want to hold hands with...all the better. Like the other t-shirt company says; Life Is Good.
That's what us Greasemonkeys at the Busted Knuckle Garage intend to do.
I couldn't have said it better myself, if times are keeping you from the big shows, hit up the local ones, organize one even, do something to keep your passion for your interests alive even if the current mess is downgrading things a bit. As always, call us or come by for all your customization needs, and if things aren't going your way right now, just keep in mind that everything's temporary, and a downturn is ALWAYS followed by an upturn.
